I spent 10 days in a NYU hospital and was sent a bill for $38,000. I was under insured. The hospital, upon checking into emergency suffering a great amount of pain and giving my insurance info., never told me the daily charge then or during my stay. I was in a semi-private room mostly waiting for surgery as the surgeon did not have his team for Fri and certainly not on the weekend so had to just lay there and wait. If I had been told the room rate I would have crawled home and taken pain medication until surgery. You should be notified of the cost ahead of time. During admission. Wanted you to know that I just got out of the hospital where I had a private room that was not at all spiffy, 'fresh' or even that clean, and the price was 2,688$ per day - significantly higher than your range. This was in Santa Cruz, California. Votes: +0
