Healthcare Expected to Increase 10% |
Healthcare costs are predicted to rise by up to 10% this year. This increase is not just on your bill but will also affect those costs that employers are paying to provide coverage to employees. Another increase is expected for 2009 that will add an additional 10% bringing a two year increase of nearly 20%. Much of the increase will come from those with insurance paying for the uninsured as well as hospitals expanding their facilities.

The World's Most Expensive Medical Device |
The world's most expensive medical device in use today is a particle accelerator that is used to fight cancer. The price can easily exceed $100 million for the machine that is thought to be useful in treating certain kinds of cancer.
Who would build one of these devices at such a high cost?
Several centers are now in the process of building these units mostly because reimbursement from Medicare and other health plans can be up to 50% higher than using other treatments even thought there is no proof the particle accelerator provides any benefit over existing methods of treatment.
If you are planning on using the particle accelerator to treat your cancer, plan on seeing a bill for over $50,000.
